Mavis CW is a British photographer born in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated from Imperial College London, where she initially pursued scientific studies before discovering her passion for photography.
Her journey into photography began with an appreciation for architecture and interior design, teaching herself visual composition through structured forms and spatial awareness. However, a pivotal moment occurred when she encountered The Decisive Moment by Henri Cartier-Bresson. Deeply moved by the power of photography to convey profound emotions and narratives, she found her true calling in street photography.
Mavis’ work intimately captures the ebb and flow of daily life, using the streets as her ever-changing canvas. Through her lens, fleeting moments are preserved, transforming everyday scenes into timeless stories. She remains dedicated to traditional photographic techniques, developing her film in her darkroom—an approach that reinforces her commitment to the craft’s authenticity.
Based in London, United Kingdom, she continuously refines her vision, documenting the poetic beauty of everyday life wherever her journey takes her.
